Summary of project results

The districts of Targovishte, Shumen and Razgrad lacked an efficient approach in employment mediation for visually impaired people. The implemented project helped provide a new service, namely Centre for Employment Mediation and Assistance for Visually Impaired People, targeted at empowerment of vulnerable groups through support for social inclusion of unemployed visually impaired people. The implemented project has threefold impact: - With regard to visually impaired people: 1.The profile of visually impaired people was outlined through the developed and updated database on district level for Targovishte, Razgrad and Shumen Districts. 2.The operation of the Centre for Employment Mediation and Assistance for Visually Impaired People enabled the unemployed with impaired sight in these regions to have access to professional help with job searching. - With regard to employers: 1. The motivational training sessions held and the individual meetings with business representatives were focused on the social commitment of each citizen, the one capable of supporting disadvantaged people, in particular. - With regard to the public, the project had great impact on overcoming negative attitudes of mistrust towards visually impaired people. The achievements of this project will be further developed in the future through the organization’s efforts to keep constantly up-to-date the database for working-age visually impaired people; keep the contacts established with representatives of employers; have the team of specialists who are members of the association prepared to support the employment opportunities of each member of the group of visually impaired people and disseminate the manuals with information issued under the project.
