Description

The Turecki District in central Poland is tackling challenges of high unemployment, migration and slow economic growth in a project drawing together neighbouring municipalities, business and development associations. The aim of the project is to develop an integrated economic development strategy, an urban planning concept, a communication study, a tourism development strategy, documentation to create a Credit Guarantee Fund and a Loan Fund for corporate entities and a Partnership Development Plan. The project includes social consultations.

Summary of project results

The main objective of the project was to improve the economic situation in the Turke Province by providing the capacity of the Partnership for the implementation of integrated projects related to the economic recovery of the area. The developed project products are owned by all Partners and serve to solve common problems in the area. The integrated strategy developed by the project was adopted by all partners as a common tool for developing a functional area policy. The prepared documentation and the project co-operation contributed to solving the identified common problems and project succeeded in: • specifying what concrete actions should be taken • developing a set of activities not only for "what", but also "who", "when", "how", "how much" to do to improve the situation in the Partnership area • getting the documents/strategies that are necessary to apply for external funding, in order to implement the tasks written in the planning documents. • consolidating cooperation within the Partnership. Through the implementation of the Project, partners are ready to implement activities that address the problems identified in the functional area by: • developing and test in practice how to form and manage the Partnership • having a specific Partnership development plan for the coming years • Having a set of strategic, operational and technical documents that will enable partners to implement the tasks hey have enrolled in Thanks to elaboration of these documents, specific directions of development changes were defined. It was indicated which of these actions would be carried out individually by each local government within the framework of a coherent target vision and which as a joint intervention of several entities. The undoubted success of the project was the increased trust between partners and the belief in the need for cooperation. Joint design activities, conducted for the first time on such a scale and with such intensity, have allowed for the development of practical methods of effective co-operation at coordinator level in each self-government.
