Description

The project is designed to increase the level of public participation among young people and build their capacity to make a difference in their communities. It will support youth activities, promote citizenship, offer technical support at meetings and workshops for 40 young people aged 18-25 in Lublin. It will improve their understanding of civil society and encourage them to engage in their local communities. Participants will have an opportunity to plan their own local initiative and use the new information in practice. They will be more willing to engage for the benefit of others and work with a non-government organisation.

Summary of project results

"According to the research conducted by the Forum of Lublin Non-governmental Organizations, over 50 per cent of organizations active in the Lubelskie voivodship attract and involve up to only ten volunteers. That means that fewer and fewer young people volunteer to participate in social activities. The research also showed that there is very little awareness of the civil society among the local youth. The aim of the project was to increase the participation of the young people from the Lubelskie voivodships in the community life through getting them involved in volunteer activities addressed to their local community. Thanks to the project implementation, a team of 40 youth leaders and animators created the Animator's Academy. The young members of the group prepare and conduct social activities for their peers and they also volunteer to cooperate with the Lublin non-governmental organizations. The project implementation included a cycle of training session for youth leaders and animators. The participants took part in traineeship preparing them to developing social projects and then they Implemented 10 projects addressed to their local communities. A conference to report on the project implementation was attended by 120 participants. Young people aged 18-25 from Lublin and neighbouring areas benefited from the project implementation. Proesa Ltd., the project partner, was responsible for conducting training on organizational competences and for supervising the team of youth leaders and animators."
