Description

The main reason to carry out the activity entitled "Thermal upgrading of primary school no. 11 in Bedzin" is a need to improve the condition of air. Weak protection of the building of the school from thermal power loss is the reason of using more energy by the supplier what contributes to degradation of the environment. The building does not comply with modern standards and therefore endangers the environment and exposes the commune budget to losses. The execution of the project in accordance with the technology and materials adopted assures durable effect of air pollution reduction. The objective of the project is an improvement of an energy efficiency of the public building - Primary School no. 11 in Bedzin, at ul. Wł. Broniewskiego 12. Indirect aims of the project can be divided into three categories: ecological, social and economical. Ecological aims: inhibition of environment degradation process, reducing emission of gasses to the atmosphere, preserving existing values of environment and landscape of Bedzin. Social aims: increasing the comfort of life of town inhabitants through reducing emission of gasses to the atmosphere, increasing the comfort of work of students and teachers in the primary school no 11. Economical aims: lowering the costs of energy usage. The main expected achievement is reducing the thermal energy demand and usage in the Primary School no 11 in Bedzin as well as improving an energy efficiency of the elements of the building through insulating external partition as well as replacement of heating system and ventilation. Direct results of the project support the project execution. Thanks to thermal upgrading activities emission of CO₂ to the atmosphere will be reduced by 401,77 Mg per year. The main beneficiary of the project is the school community - students, teachers and staff. Indirect beneficiaries will be town inhabitants living in the area where the school is located.

Summary of project results

Before projects implementation, primary school's building was poorly protected from thermal power loss, so it required using more energy what contributes to degradation of the environment. Będzin city was determined to carry on a project that will help to increase energy efficiency and reduce CO2 emission. It was possible thanks to EEA grants. Thermomodernisational works covered one building, over 5,2 thousands of m2 of partition were insulated. Modernised were interior installations (including ventilation) and heat node. Interior lighting was exchanged for ecological one (411 lighting points replaced). Investment allowed to reduce CO2 emission (398 Mg/year). The main beneficiary of the project is the school community - students, teachers and staff. Indirect beneficiaries are town inhabitants living in the area where the school is located. Beneficiary has carried out several meetings with inhabitants which helped to raise awareness in the field of air quality protection.
