Description

Effective protection of biodiversity in Natura 2000 sites in Opole Province requires a coherent management and monitoring system, which includes as a main tool the management plans. The main objective of the project is to support the management and monitoring of Natura 2000 sites in Opole Province, and thus increase their effectiveness. This will be done by establishing management plans for four of these sites. The project will establish a management plan for four Natura 2000 sites, and a plan for the implementation of protection tasks formulated in the 2012-2013 management plans for selected Natura 2000 sites in Opole. During the project, the Regional Directorate of Environmental Protection in Opole plans to use commonly used standards, containing elements of executive solutions and departmental guidelines, as a way of conducting actions that have proved to be effective during previously undertakings. The target groups of the project are public bodies, administrative authorities, institutions, organizations and persons interested in and/or required to perform protective measures in Natura 2000 sites in Opole Province.

Summary of project results

Project completed, the indicators have been achieved. The implementation of the project has contributed to the acquisition of the management of nature conservation experience at regional level, including, among others activities related to the removal of expansive species in protected habitats. Acquired knowledge will contribute to the efficient implementation of similar activities in other protected areas in the region. As a result of the expert reports, protection plans (for 4 Natura 2000 sites) and 45 monitoring activities of conservation status of habitats and species, , acquired knowledge will increase the effectiveness of management and monitoring processes in Natura 2000 areas. The Noticed: positive impact of the activities in the education, promotion and information field on the approach of local authorities, organizations and interested inhabitants of these areas to carry out the tasks related to nature conservation.
