Description

Within the framework of the project “Pellet 4Energia” LTD pellet production unit development” it is planned to purchase the necessary equipment for development of a new pellet production unit. As a result of the project, it is anticipated to produce two kinds of pellets in Brocēni. Firstly, industrial pellets and secondly, premium pellets (to be used in households). During the project implementation it is planned to contribute the following problem solutions: a) Significant greenhouse gas emission reductions will be made, b) increase employment rate in the region by creating at least 20 new working places, c) to increase the added value created in Latvia, d) to increase the state tax income from entrepreneurship (employer`s taxes, corporate income tax, value-added tax) and e) to promote the foreign trade balance increase.

Summary of project results

The company “Pellet 4Energia” is Daughter Company of “Nelja Energia” JSC, which operates in the renewable energy sector in the Baltic countries since 2005. In July 2015 construction of the “Pellet 4Energia”pellet factory and CHP commenced in Saldus region, Latvia. The Norway grants supported the company in purchase of the most modern and newest generation technology equipment that allows producing high quality industrial and premium pellets. The annual estimated production capacity of the plant is 120,000 tonnes of pellets. The project was implemented under the “Green Industry Innovation” programme therefore green aspect of project was taken into account. Accordingly production of pellets ensures CO2 emissions savings in amount 137 700 t CO2/a. In addition in the result of the project 24 new work places were crated that is noticeable for the Saldus region in Latvia. The total eligible costs of the project were 1 780 000 euro, Norway grant aid – 623 000 euro.
