Description

Project will facilitate solving of problems regarding protection of inland water resources, management and engagement of community . It will build Association’s and it’s members institutional and human capacity ensuring regular and long term based participation in legislative and decision making processes. Main activities: a)development of comprehension on civic participation; b) scientific publications on fish resource protection issues; c)capacity building and improvement of interest representation model operation; d)support to the Association in attracting new members and participation in legislative and policy development processes. Results: a)improved interactive tool for information Exchange; b)15 scientific publications in understandable manner for society; c)Association’s position and proposals expressed in public meetings; d)increased number of Association’s members and their capacities. Target group: Association’s members, local anglers and government.

Summary of project results

Operational Programme purpose: to strengthen the organization Fishing Cooperation Council and the members of the institutional and human resource capacity to ensure a regular and long-term based on the organization's participation in policy making and decision making processes. Target group: 25 NGOs, 955 members, 25 staff, 50 national governing body, 125 local government institutions, Operating results of the program: 1) Set up a website www.mosp.lv by placing current information about fishing and fishing policy issues for the project activities. 2) Prepared and published on websites of 15 scientific publications on various topics related to fishing, fishing ethics, effects on the internal and coastal water resources. 3) Provided MOSP members' participation in 29 meetings of the Board. 4) provided MOSP participation in policy making and decision-making processes with the participation of 108 different working groups, advisory boards, commissions meetings (the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Saeima Economic, Agricultural, Environmental and Regional Policy Committee, the Cabinet of Ministers, etc.). 5) A fishing interest group works the Ministry of Agriculture Latvian inland and coastal waters for Sustainable Resource Use and Management Advisory Council, which brings together 13 associations. 6) organized 7 seminars for local initiatives and involvement in the development of societies, involvement in local protection of water resources, on progress of the project (an average of 30-40 participants). 7) organized 3 MOSP members capacity building workshops (average of 20 participants).
