Description

The project will create and provide implementation of a new service - "Support programme for foster families, guardians, adopters” in Ventspils, Talsi and the regions. The main activities will include: Specialist consultations (social workers, psychologists, lawyers, social educators); Support group classes (both for adults and children); Practical seminars/classes; Services of an „operative support team”: Other support services (baby-sitting, provision of premises and specialists` presence during a child's meeting with its biological parents, etc.); Preparation of informative brochure; Organizing and holding a festival for foster families and trustees „Together!”. The project will be implemented in a partnership with the Crisis Centre of the Talsi Region. By implementing the project the crisis centre „ Paspārne” and the Talsi Crisis Centre will be presented as the competent support centres/points that offer a very broad comprehensive selection of services and support concentrated in one place specifically for foster families and trustees.

Summary of project results

At the end of Project implementation concluded project goal is reached. This Project has secured significant input in terms of goals’ consummation: 1) Created and lead new kind of support service - support to foster families, guardians, adoptive parents 2) Implementation of programme was started in March 2014 and realised in cities of Ventspils and Talsi also in regions. As pilot project it was ran till 31st of May 2015. 3) Due to informative and educative activities of this particular project, also articles in media, created and wide spread informative leaflet non-family care forms are popularised. In such way these issues are activated . Also these activities encourage society to think about taking responsibility of children who need care in family like environment. Custody court and Social service of city Ventspils are applied Support centre “Pasparne” to secure informative and supporting activities since beginning of the year 2016. These classes are dedicated to the project’s target group. Also financing from the city budget is assigned. Within the project the following activities were implemented: - Consulting with specialists - Classes for supported groups: adults and children - hands-on seminars and classes - service of „operative support team” - other kind of support services - preparation of informative leaflet and multiplication – 500 copies - Organizing of festival named "Together!" for foster parents, guardians Activities within 18 months were organized both in Ventspils, Talsi, and were directed to the Trustees and foster families, which show commitment and want to improve the quality of family life, mental health, emotional climate, and their contact with children.
