Description
The project will establish cooperation between the NGO sector and municipalities increasing understanding on effectiveness of participation in the policy process at municipality, public administration and the EU level, and develop environment for sustainable and result-oriented NGOs. A study will be carried out to find out opinion of the society and municipalities on how NGOs could contribute to creation of civil society, improvement of society’s life quality, promotion of employment, etc. Motivation and training activities to involve people in processes of civil society will be held and cooperation between the NGO and local governments of Northern Latgale districts will be promoted to discuss delegation of social, cultural and other measures to the NGO sector developing environment for sustainable NGOs. Society will be informed of the results of the study. Target group: inhabitants, NGOs
Summary of project results
The implementation of the Project took place in Balvi, Rugāji, Vilaka and Baltinava counties (North Latgale). The aim of the project was achieved – civil society strengthened and the civil integration promoted by rising social activity, forming the motivation and belief in a personal achievement in the provincial towns and rural areas. The project activities were performed and such results were achieved: • NGO “SAVI” became member of 2 national level NGOs - association „Civic Alliance - Latvia” and Council of Latvian Rural Communities Parliament; at local level joined the rural Local Action Group “Balvi district partnership” and NGO network in North-Latgale; • During the Project 8 new members were attracted and 61 volunteers were involved in project activities; 6 volunteers participated in the training on project development, 2 volunteers – in the training on information technology and website administration skills; • Homepage for North Latgale NGOs
www.biedribasavi.lv was created; • Research performed about North Latgale NGOs – municipality partnership options and exploring social, cultural and other service delegation for NGOs in local municipalities. NGO “SAVI” expanded its sphere of interests towards the social sphere activities: 1 delegation agreement between the local government and NGOs for service provision was signed; performed motivation and training measures to involve people in civil society processes, especially young people – summer school for young people, 8 seminars in Balvi, Vilaka and Rugaji county about civic participation options in Latvia and North Latgale, seminars and workshops on waste recovery and recycling; promoted cooperation of NGOs in the North Latgale counties and help strengthen their capacity through regular seminars and advising on legislation, accounting, project development and other issues (4 lectures about Social business opportunities, 1 lecture about Internal communication in an organization and 4 lectures about Volunteering opportunities for the organizations, 4 exchange visits; 565 hours of consulting members of other NGOs about project, legislative and accounting issues; 7 project proposals were prepared, 5 projects implemented.
