Description

The objective of the Project is to transfer Norwegian knowledge and good practise and to strengthen administrative and public competences of the specialists of social institutions in Lithuanian municipalities. During Project implementation it is planed to transfer good practice experience from Norwegian specialists by preparing the methodology for “Family-based Practice Model” and by adapting it in Lithuanian context. And the next tasks of the Project is to strengthen administrative and public competences of the specialists of social institutions in Lithuanian municipalities. It is planed to select professionals, working in Lithuania’s municipality social institutions (social workers, psychologists, administration) as a target group. For Project implementation there is planned activities: Trainings in Norway and in Dulwich centre; Methodological tool development and publication; Group and individual supervisions, trainings for employees from Lithuanian municipalities.

Summary of project results

The project was needed to transfer knowledge and good experience of Norway and strengthen the administrative and public competencies of professionals of Lithuania’s municipality institutions to provide social services to risk families. The following activities have been implemented during the project: 1. Two experts from the institution of the project promoter (Psychological Support and Counseling Center) and two therapists from the Norwegian partner institution (Family team in Ambulance Family section of Drammen Hospital) participated in a narrative therapy training at Dulwich center (Australia). 2. A group of 5 Lithuanian experts participated in 5 day training in Drammen, Norway. The training was leaded by the representatives of project partner. During the training, the Lithuanian specialists got acquainted with experience of project partner and its “Family based practice” model, observed the practical aspects of Norwegian work and also discussed creation of new methodology „Work with the family, based on narrative and systemic family therapy”. 3. An educational book “Narrative therapy” and four methodological publications „The Tree of Life“, „The Team of Life“, “Kites”, “The History of Live” have been prepared and published, that are based on both the Norwegian partner existing methods and Dulwich centre narrative therapy. 4. Trainings for social workers and psychologists working with risk families in social services centres have been conducted. In total 236 specialists attended 4 day training (2 seminars for 2 days) in 13 municipalities of Lithuania. In addition, group and individual supervisions for Lithuanian professionals to discuss difficult cases and application of practical techniques have been organized. 5. The project also included organization of final project conference, in which the results and achievements of the project have been presented and presentations on project related topics delivered. The project contributed to the improvement of the competencies of specialists of Lithuania to work with risk family as a unit and deepened understanding of narrative therapy model.

Summary of bilateral results

The project partner from Norway Family team in Ambulance Family section of Drammen Hospital participated in most of the project activities: 1. 5 day training for five Lithuanian experts, which took place in Drammen and was leaded by the representatives of the Norwegian partner. During the training the Lithuanian specialists got acquainted with Norwegian experience and their “Family based practice” model, observed the practical aspects of Norwegian work and also discussed creation of new methodology „Work with the family, based on narrative and systemic family therapy”. 2. Two therapists from the Norwegian partner and two experts from the project promoter participated in a narrative therapy training at Dulwich center (Australia). 3. Two experts from Norway participated in the final project conference and delivered presentations on project related themes. During implementation of the project partner shared it’s know how and experience in field of “Family based practice” model. Together partners prepared informational tool for Lithuanian specialist. Implementation of the Project improved knowledge and mutual understanding between Project partners.
