Description
The objective of the project – to render good experience and knowledge of Norwegian institutions while executing the objectives of regional policy in the field of sports to the municipalities and institutions of Lithuanian cities, which execute the regional sports policy. The objective group of the project is the specialists of state and municipal institutions acting in the field of sports and health rehabilitation. During the project it will be tried to take over good experience and knowledge from the institutions of the Kingdom of Norway, working in the field of local social sports and health rehabilitation and to transfer this knowledge to the Lithuanian institutions, which execute this activity. Summary of project results
One of the problems faced by most of Lithuanian regions is weak participation of local people in the sports activities, high unemployment and alcoholism rate, especially low participation of elder people, high criminality rate among the youth. These problems could be partly solved by engaging to the sport activities. The aim of the project was to convey best practices and knowledge of the Norwegian authorities through regional policy objectives in the field of sports to municipalities and institutions in Lithuanian cities implementing regional sports policy. Norway is one of the leaders in the fields of regional sports policy and wellness in Europe. Therefore, it was important for lithuanians to uptake its best practices. Representatives of Lithuanian municipalities and institutions implementing regional sports policy went on an internship in Norway, after that recommendations for organization of sport activities were prepared. Also an educational (study) programme for wellness management was prepared. After preparation of educational material, training course in 19 different cities of Lithuania were organized for representatives of local communities, schools, NGO's, other entities working in the field of sports and health promotion. About 600 specialists participated in project activities and increased their capacities. Sports coaches and healthy lifestyle specialists working in regions took over Norwegian best practices in order to encourage their community members to live active lives without harming health.
Summary of bilateral results
During the implementation of the project Norwegian partner shared it’s experience in field of sports. The Norwegian specialists consulted project promoter in preparation the methodological recommendations and the study (educational) programme. Project partner practically showed the methods of engaging society to sport activities during the study visit of Lithuanian trainers in Norway and participated in trainings organized in different Lithuanian municipalities.
