Description

Borta JSC is manufacturing metal structures according to clients' technical drawings and specifications. The company uses the preparations (pipes, beams, etc.) to manufacture non-standard metal structures, which are loaded to vehicles and delivered to clients. If the structures are large and at client's request, the structures are assembled in the client's site. Currently, the company is using pontoon cranes PK-45, PK-25 and PK-15. However, the cranes used by Borta JSC are out-of-date and worn-out, they consume a lot of fuel (diesel), energy and are at high risk of malfunction. Therefore, the company cannot fulfil the orders effectively or develop the business. In order to increase company's competitiveness, Borta JSC intends to implement a project, during which the company would purchase and introduce an innovative load manipulation system with a hybrid drive, a regeneration system and a peak energy battery. When introducing the innovative technological solution, the company also intends to introduce the organizational methods related to operation of this technological equipment: it is planned to organize special staff training during project implementation, to prepare a technology for manipulating particular metal products and to set the sequence and duration of operations, i.e. optimizing the manufacturing of metal structures. These actions will allow to optimize the environmental aspects of use of the technological equipment and will create the innovation.

Summary of project results

JSC "Borta" manufactures industrial metal structures and their parts, as well as installs these structures at the site, at the request of the customer. The project “Implementation of new energy recovery technologies in UAB “Borta activities (MOBIREG)” was successfully completed in October, 2016. The aim of the project was to increase the company's competitiveness in the development of environmentally friendly technologies. New Mobile manipulation system with kinetic energy recovery and storage technology was purchased from a German company Terex MHPS GmbH. Before the implementation of the project the technology used was already outdated and pollution causing, because it uses a lot of fuel and energy. In addition there was a high risk of failure, which prevented the company to effectively manage the scheduled orders. Therefore, the company could not expand its scope of activities and had for some time considering the available technology advances and business efficiency increase. The New Mobile manipulation system is particularly environmentally friendly in terms of resource consumption. The technology helps the company to reduce pollution indicators and contribute to application of environmentally friendly solutions. Using this technology helps increase production capacity and the company will be able to expand production capacity, which provides opportunities for higher quality products and broader possibilities for production. More efficient production process will increase productivity indicators. The project created conditions for job creation and sustainable development of the company. The new technology reduced costs for the company, so it will be able to hire more professionals to expand the activities.
