Description

The project's goal is a children's day care center (CDCC) with open space for youth (OYS) development that improves the welfare of children and youth. The project's target group is children and youth at risk in Birzai district municipality. Given the fact that there is not a single CDCC with OYS in Birzai and the fact that not a single CDCC provide comprehensive services for families, this project will contribute to the implementation of program objectives. CDCC with OYS services for children and youth at risk will satisfy not only the physiological needs of children, but also the need for self-expression, and form and develop social skills and character of children and youth. The total project investments are aimed at solving problems of children, youth and their families at risk, and increase their welfare: it will introduce a new family empowerment service, purchase equipment and CDCC with OYS performance measures, and develop life skills of children and youth and inter-agency cooperation. The partner, Trøgstad Pinsemenighet, will share their work, experience and knowledge on children and youth problems in Norway, inter-agency cooperation, and other topics.

Summary of project results

According to Statistics Lithuania in the beginning of 2013 there was living 5246 young people age from 14 to 29 years in Bizai district municipality. According to the assessment of quality solving youth problems in Birzai district municipality, municipality just averagely considers youth groups dependences and socially excluded young people misses attention mostly. The quality evaluation, which assesses the number of youth organization and their activities in district municipality, leads to the conclusion that there are not enough NGOs, which systematically and purposefully work with young people. According to the studies of youth situation in Lithuania and Birzai district municipality, statistics and other relevant data, the state and society is going through severe processes of changes, that affect district’s social, economic, cultural and especially – the demographic and further development of the region. These processes affects and young people, so it is necessary to implement measures to solve youth problems and issues and contribute to the welfare of the youth in the area of Birzai Project goal was Children Day Care Centre with Open Youth Space (CDCC with OYS) development, improving the welfare of risk group children and youth. The project's target group - risk group children and youth in Birzai district municipality. So, given the fact that there was not a single CDCC with OYS in Birzai district municipality and the fact that not a single CDCC provide comprehensive services for families, this project contributed to the implementation of program objectives. CDCC with OYS services for risk group children and youth were particularly needed. They satisfice not on physiological needs of children, but also the need for self-expression, they form and develop social skills and character of children and youth. The total project investments are aimed for solving problems of risk group children, youth and their families, increasing their welfare: it was founded the first CDCC with OYS in Birzai district municipality, introduced a new family empowerment service for risk group families, purchased equipment and CDCC with OYS performance measures, developed life skills of children and youth and developed inter-agency cooperation. At the end of the project CDCC with OYS attended 91 child and 100 youth.

Summary of bilateral results

The project partner Trøgstad Pinsemenighet delegated representatives came to Lithuania and shared their work with children and young people experience and knowledge in the following areas: at-risk children and youth problems in Norway, the Norwegian experience of inter-agency cooperation in addressing at-risk children and youth, and other topical issues topics. Project promoter and partner has a long-term partnership.
