Description

The main goal of the project is to decrease the current technological layer structure by 15%, resulting in decrease in costs, but also in scrap and waste production, at the same time decreasing CO2 emissions. The promoter is a supplier to the automotive industry of decorative interior parts made with wooden veneer and finished with injected polyurethane. To further strengthen its position, the promoter wants to pro-actively decrease waste and material consumption in its production. The biggest challenge is the decrease in layers of which the product is shaped and formed. The structure of these layers ensures the stability and durability of the product during the very stringent automotive testing process. This project will decrease usage and scrap by decreasing the layers used and/or the thickness of the layers used while still attaining the expected test results. The project deals with the development, planning, producing and testing the samples. The target group is the automobile industry processing. This innovation provides strategic advantage in sales by developing a product which is more standardized and more environmentally friendly that the competitor’s.

Summary of project results

The main goal was to decrease the current technological layer structure by 15%, resulting in decrease in cost, but also in scrap and waste production, at the same time decreasing CO2 emissions. This innovation provides strategic advantage in sales by developing a product which is more standardized and more environmentally friendly than the competitor’s. This project made a risk analysis of the proposed changes to layer structure and thickness. The project dealt with the development, planning and execution tooling for the samples and produce samples and test it. The target group is the automobile industry processing.
