Description

The school is applying to the Norway Grants for a teacher training mobility programme to support two female participants in a 7-day job shadowing at a secondary school in Trondheim. The school's structure resembles ours and which is connected to many tourism and catering companies. After discussing the personal and professional requests of the two participants, the sending and host institutions will have assembled the main expectations of the project together. Thus the main goals of the project are: studying new professional technologies by doing and observing work practice at the firms and companies which are in connection with our partner school; and studying ECVET (the European Credit system for Vocational Education and Training) elements used and applied by the partner. The project is expected to result in long-term impacts both for the individuals who participate in the programme and for the institution in several fields. During the dissemination, our aim is to share the social and professional results and benefits of the programme with colleagues, students and school management.

Summary of project results

Our main objectives of the project were: we were improving linguistic (English) competences, learning new teaching methods by observing lessons, studying new professional technologies by doing and observing work practice at the firms and companies which are in connection with our partner school. We also visited tourism spots, did sightseeing, and studied the cultural heritages and sustainable tourism of Norway. In addition we had the opportunity to prepare a mutual Erasmus+ mobility programme for the two schools’ students. Thus we are planning to apply for support at Erasmus+ Fundation for 2017.

Summary of bilateral results

One of the most significant results of this programme is, that we could work out a long-term partnership between the two schools. The participants had the opportunity to update their knowledge, improve their English, develop their personal competences and skills. We also got to know some special parts of tourism, such as sustainable and heritage tourism and visited those destinations we teach about. The school got the possibility to work out a common project and start a collaboration with the partner school in order to send students for work practice mutually in the coming years. The other advantage of the programme is that during the observation of lessons the two participants could get a lot of experiences in that area (Catering and Hospitality) which is completely new to our school. According to the agreement with the Norwegian partner school, they have the opportunity to place 4 trainees/students from their institutions to Hungarian work placements eg. hotels, or restaurants in order to do work practice (in the framework of Erasmus+KA1).
