Description

The refugee situation in the last 6 months as well as the intense debate that evolved around it lead to the strengthening of prejudice and the fear of foreigners, and even of the anger towards them, in Hungary. The seriousness of the situation today is clearly shown by how the voice of some extremist groups is getting louder, who in some cases even openly encourage violence against foreigners or migrants. The goal of the project is the sensitization of the Hungarian society towards the subject, and the reduction of xenophobia, to help the social integration of migrants. Beside the campaign that motivates people to be more tolerant and empathic, the project also has the long term goal to help migrants find an apartment easier. During the project, 4 known public figures (2 journalists, 2 celebrities) welcome a migrant in their home for 5-7 days, and they document their time together. The 4, 3-10 min. videos later published in the press aim to help the viewers identify better with both the “host” and the “guest”, through the personal tone, the emotional effect and the participation of a well-known personality. At the end of the campaign a FB-page gets started where we connect people who want to rent their apartment to migrants with those who have difficulties getting a long term place. The project addresses the less tolerant groups of the society (through the sensitization), and those who’d like to help the integration of migrants at the same time, and indirectly migrants too.
