Summary of project results

Children living in the boarding school have difficulties to learn competencies and they hardly become able to be independent. It is difficult for them to integrate into the society as they have been living in a closed system. The objective of the project was to offer such programs that give youth experience, improve the attitude and social competencies of youth living in the boarding school, to strengthen their confidence in order to make them become proactive. The project promoter and its partner made a cooperation agreement with the boarding institution where the project activities were implemented. 15 educators of the institution participated in a methodological workshop. The project activities for the children were launched by a camp in which 22 children, 3 educators and 3 trainers participated. The situations of children were analyzed, the group started to form and the development of youth started. Afternoon workshops were organized for 13 times. The thematic of the workshops always answered the need of participants, and the used methods (experience pedagogy, problem-oriented team coaching) contributed to achieve the aims. At the last workshops children were prepared for volunteering in smaller groups. A volunteer phycologist helped the work of the trainers. A 2 days long workshop contributed to the development of youth. Unfortunately only 7 of 22 children could do volunteering in the local home of elderly as there are very strict regulations according to the children’s activity outside of their own institution. The summer camp closed the project work with the children. An exhibition was organized in order to present the artworks -made during the project- and the development of the children. One can also have a glimpse of the project activities from this short video: https://goo.gl/rLezke. The experiences were summarized in a publication.
