Description

Two extremely violent crime were committed against women in Pécs in the last 24 months that was a shock for the public. Main messages of the short film and poster campaign „Real men don’t hurt women, real men are not violent, rape and women maltreatment is a shame” should draw attention of men and women to the fact that they can reduce and thus stop violence. In the collective project photos and a short film will be made of the team members of PMFC Matias Futball Club (as icons) with the main message: non-violence and appreciation of women. With the campaign football fans will be addressed, furthermore more thousand people can be reached. The main goal of the campaign is to recognise and identify crime and violence. A well-known football team can help making changes in the public thinking by reacting sensitively and peacefully to a problem which can create heavy emotions.

Summary of project results

Hungarian society, residents of Pécs, supporter of football needed to do a lot for reducing and thus stopping violence and maltreatment in our city and in the world by changing their minds and being self-critical. In Pécs and in the world of football there was a large media interest so we can communicate this issue with help of sport and partners in the future. The objective was to reach more than thousand people. This campaign addressed our male and female football fans, who came to support the team. Moreover this number was much bigger when we had an outside TV broadcast, so we could reach more thousand people with this campaign. We made short film and poster campaign, sensitized the campaign’s main characters to violence and maltreatment, operated webpage and Facebook profile, printed T-shirts, organized press conferences, appeared in the media, asked for feedback from fans, cooperated with PMFC football team and Nő az Esély Egyesület. There was no donor partner. The attitude examination at the beginning of the campaign and at the end shows remarkable differences in several questions. In the question of violence against women, at the beginning 14% of the respondents said it's a natural or normal thing to commit that, but at the end, only 5%. The tendency is similar in the question of domestic violence, the people who said it is a private-matter were 18%, but by the end of the campaign this decreased to 7%, therefore more people think that domestic violence is not a private-affair anymore.
