Description

Considering all positive development in the civil society in Hungary, this development generally failed to create more space for citizens in the decision making process. At the same time citizens are not prepared to get involved. The Objective is to provide long term support for local resource-development and community organizing practices in Hungary The establishment of a Sustainable Development and Community Organizing Resource Centre supporting 10(+) local/thematic communities and their organizations in resolving self-identified issues and answering specific needs. The expected outcomes: reach 700 local people; 150 people into voluntary activities; 300 project participants into trainings, meetings, events; 40-60 newsfeeds on project activities; 6 local campaigns, 3 resource development projects; development of a resource centre and its local model programme. Target group: disadvantaged communities, CSOs, thematic/minority groups/community work organisations, professionals.

Summary of project results

Considering all positive development in the civil society in Hungary, this development generally failed to create more space for citizens in the decision making process. At the same time citizens are not prepared to get involved. To ensure the activation of local citizens and to strenghten the civic participation the project provided long term support for local communities. This covered the development and the implementation of a complex resource-development and community organizing methodology. Based the designed methods altogether 15 communities were involved to a comunity organizing process which contained trainings, networking meetings and regular mentoration. Furthermore the project promoter established a center for community organizing called "Sustainable Development and Community Organizing Resource Centre" which is supporting more than 20 local/thematic communities and their organizations in the solving self-identified issues and answering specific needs. All the expected outcomes were achieved: more than 1000 local people were connected; more than 150 people were directly involved into local actions and campainge and into voluntary activities. More than 300 participants has been involced into trainings, meetings and events. About 40-60 newsfeeds on project activities were published.

Summary of bilateral results

The project promoter and the Norvegian Ideabanken has a long history along community development and network partnerships. The partner has participated in the whole development of this project. During the implementation the main role of the partner was to provide professional support based on sustainable development. Furthermore they participated in the strategically planning process, the project and institutional sustainability planning, the development of curricula, the support the professional team of the project. And given advice for project implementation and practical work.
