Description

Although the rights of people with physical disabilities are protected by law, they are often faced with problems in their everyday lives. Despite the measures undertaken locally, they are still unaccepted and misunderstood. The action Raise awareness! is necessary in order to promote positive perceptions towards people with physical disabilities and their rights. In such a way we can create inclusive society based on human rights. Our target group is young people between 15 and 18 years old. By participating in the action they are going to acquire knowledge which will prevent biased thinking and creating prejudice later in life.The expected results are the initial meeting, operational plan, activity evaluation, press release, 4 inclusive high school workshops, at least 60 high school students participating in the workshops, at least 300 high school students informed about the action, organized event "Upoznaj svoj grad!", at least 20 high school students participating in the event, initial and final conference, 5 internet releases on Facebook and the Association's web page, informative leaflets for the event "Upoznaj svoj grad!", and a published brochure.

Summary of project results

Association of people with disability of Međimurje – Raise awareness! The action "Wake up" was performed in order to sensitize the youth about people with disability (PWD) and promote the rights of PWD. It worked to create an inclusive society based on human rights. The target group were young people from 15 to 18 years that participated in the action acquiring knowledge that will prevent the development of prejudices about disabilities later in life. The action achieved the expected results: the initial meeting was held and an operational plan was drafted, evaluation activities were performed, the press was informed about the campaign, 39 announcements in the media were published, 4 inclusive workshops in secondary schools were held, with 92 students participated in workshops, 500 students were informed, the event "Know your city" was organized, 30 students were involved in organizing the event, the initial and final conference was organized and more than 500 leaflets were published and distributed to the public.
