The following project aims to boost the work that Xarxa de Xarxes d`Acció Social i Cooperació (Xarxa in advance)- the meeting place of the networks operating in the Valencian Community- has undertaken since year 2011, as a response to the growing social alarm generated by the public sector cuts and the thousands of people left without a proper social protection. The main purpose of the social action and development aid associations and collectives that make up the Xarxa is to protect the rights of citizens beyond the own persistence of the entities. The main line of action will be increasing and improving our communication campaigns, aimed at bringing under the spotlight the most urgent social problems, through use of press releases, reports, social networks, and blogging, mainly. Despite the difficulties of building up partnerships, we believe they are powerful tool for boosting mobilization, due to their contractual and compromising nature. The Xarxa has an important capacity to multiply the impact of its actions. We estimate an impact on over 8000 people.

Summary of project results

Thanks to this project seven organizations have joined to promote constructive criticism and awareness of citizens in Valencia through the creation of a network called "Xarxa de Xarxes" (hereinafter XX). We note four key project results. First, the political class and the media are aware of requests from citizens regarding social issues proposals. The project has created a joint document on public social policies, and have held meetings with the main political parties, candidates for regional elections. Some have even picked up their own proposals for the electoral programs. Second, they have become visible actions of the network through quality communication and understandable to the public. Has remained an accessible and continuous communication proyecto. Third, citizenship has been identified with the mission of the XX and has actively participated in its actions. Finally, they have made efforts to improve management, advocacy, mobilization and communication in order to provide a common response to the challenges of working in today's society. Organisations that are now part of the XX have: learned working in the network, shared knowledge and have transformed many of its weaknesses footholds to increase their visibility regarding society and political class. The network has promoted the strengthening of partnerships through training on specific topics (communication, finance and management).
