Description

The project aims at generating citizen commitment to the social and solidarity economy, as well as a change in consumption behaviour, through a participatory process of training and awareness raising, promoting participative democracy and strengthening local networks in the construction of a collaborative map of initiatives. It also aims at increasing citizen participation in the creation of a collaborative map to give visibility and disseminate 250 initiatives of the Social and Solidarity Economy in Catalonia, promoting a change in consumption behaviour of citizens. 4 participatory research and dissemination groups of solidarity economy initiatives will be created, made up of 40 people in total (45% young people). These 'motor groups' will organize trainings and actions, as well as coordinating the participation of local networks and people in the different municipalities, strengthening the local associative culture.

Summary of project results

Pam a Pam, the name that the Project has adopted during its implementation has enriched the partnership in many ways. They have developed bonds with people and organisations that were not collaborators before as well as many initiatives in the field that sometimes are not visible for the general public. The Pam a Pam community has grown exponentially and they consider themselves not beneficiaries, but activists, and they have even named the volunteers as orange pins, because they help to pin out the social and solidarity economy in a map making visible the efforts done in this field in Catalonia. The volunteers/activists have loved a personal and collective learning and capacity building by conducting interviews with the social economy initiatives as well as in the in-depth debates held in different awareness raising events. They have developed knowledge on the social economy sector in Catalonia and including it in their work; knowledge on the sectors, the criteria of social economy, and of course getting closer to the social economy individually and collectively made them more aware on how to promote a more just society. The essence of the project is based on the potential of the active citizenship which knows best how to do things and that combining efforts articulated a map as a tool for visualizing the social and solidarity economy in Catalonia.
