Description

Main objective of the project is to increase tolerance and understanding towards people living with special needs, through ones personal experience and cooperation. During the project there will be a group of young people (both, with and without special needs)trained that will start to conduct workshops on the topic of disability. "Open Minds" workshops will take place in schools, kindergartens and youth centers, involving a variety of organisations in the activities of the project. The meetings with different organisations will create an open attitude within organisations and among youth, towards people with special needs thus contributing to the creation of more inclusive society.

Summary of project results

“Avatud Meeled“ workshops at schools and kindergartens“ was a youth project with an aim to enhance social cohesion among youth living with and without disabilities through joint activities. We trained mixed group of 13 young people of whom 5 had slight physical or visual impairment who created 2 different workshops to implement in schools and kindergartens. Altogether there were 21 workshops held and one open event to notify and include wider public about the issues concerning disabilities. Our initial aim was to have more workshops and more public events done but due to the fact that all young people participated on volunteer bases and were simultaneously either students or working on daily basis, we did not reach the initial numbers within project months. Despite of that, these young people created concrete workshop formats which will be used in our organisation for years to come.
