Description

The objective of the project is to involve new, long-term volunteers and to give them practical training. It helps to raise professional skills in non-profit sector and the economic capability of the organization. After the project, volunteers are able to participate in the organization`s activities on a more professional level. During the project four workshops are organized and four new activities (services) will be started at the local community centre. The workshops are on following topics: using carpentry, restoration of old doors and windows, „heritage ambulance“and use of the goods of Majatohter shop (goods and tools for restoration works).

Summary of project results

In order to raise the sense of community and activate its members more practical experience in improving the quality of local life is needed. Therefore the project aimed to give practical training in renovation to the volunteers of Järvamaa Volnteer Center. This helps to involve new, long-term volunteers, to raise professional skills in non-profit sector and the economic capability of the organization. For this trainings and workshops on the following topics were carried out: carpentry, restoration of old doors and windows, renovating old houses, „heritage ambulance“ and use of the goods of Majatohter shop (goods and tools for restoration works). The objectives of the project were fully met. As a result of the project the professional capability of the volunteers of Järvamaa Volunteer Center to renovate old buildings has increased considerably. The volunteers have almost fully renovated the community center's kitchen, the workbenches and the shop-floor of the volunteer center are in continuous use of the community, the volunteer center has started to offer some building renovation services and has expanded the business of the Majatohter shop. In addition, good cooperation and networks were created with entrepreneurs who helped to carry out the trainings.
