The involvement of people of the Ida-Virumaa county in NGO-s and in civic society is very low compared to other regions in Estonia. The existing NGO-s struggle with finding new members. In addition, the physically disabled people are excluded from the society as there is a lack of special equipment for them in public institutions. Therefore, the objective of the project was to increase awareness of the people of Ida-Virumaa county about means in participating in civic society and therefore strengthen the NGO-s of the region. The second objective of the project was to strengthen the capacity of NGO Gagarin by creating opportunities for the disabled people for participating in the activities of the NGO. As a result of the project the people of Ida-Virumaa region received information about opportunities to participate in public life through active participation in the work of NGO-s.The NGO-s gained knowledge and practical skills on involving new members and on opportunities of expanding their activities through social entrepreneurship. In addition, the NGO Gagarin's Center of Creativity will receive more visitors in the future, as special equipment was installed in the Center for the physically disabled people.
