Summary of project results
The objective of the sub-project was to contribute to the overall de-stigmatization of people with mental illness and of psychiatry in general in the Czech Republic by further developing of de-stigmatizing activities which had been at Ledovec already succesfully used, broaden their impact and use them in wider context. The objectives of the project have been fully achieved. Within the sub-project the following activities were implemented: • Working with the public through preventive seminars and public cultural events Within this activity, fifteen destigmazitation events were held for the public. There were also fifty seminars "How can I recognize I´ve become mad" and five seminars" Crazy? And what?!" at secondary schools. At the same time, there were consultations with students, parents and teachers at schools. • Circus Patiento in psychiatric hospitals Three circuses took place in PN Lnáře, Petrohrad and Dobřany. A photographic exhibition was created for Circus Paciento, which was repeatedly presented to public. • Developing Recovery as a overall program for people with mental illness (as well as the majority society as a whole) The first Czech Recovery Conference was held with the participation of foreign lecturers. Within this activity a web portal
www.zotaveni.cz was created and launched. There was also a training of Ledovec´workers in the CARe method. The “Ledovec s.r.o. Implementation Manual” has been created and printed. There have been 10 internships focused on Services Recovery Oriented. Two cycles of English and computer skills courses took place. A Bibliotherapy course - training for librarians and employees - was also carried out. The topic of destigmatization was directly addressed to 1 000 students and 1 000 participants in public events, 300 patients and staff of psychiatric hospitals; to the general public indirectly (from the media, from the Ledovec´website). A web portal has been created that promotes a recovery approach with significant destigmatization emphasis.
