The project addresses the need to bridge the gap between the NGOs in the city of Stara Zagora and the citizens. The project aims at bridging the gap between the citizens’ expectations and the NGOs’ goals by actively involving the public in the NGO activities. First, a questionnaire-base survey will be held among the NGOs in Stara Zagora to study their experience and achievements. Second, the findings of the survey will be analyzed and the good practices of the NGOs will be identified. The relevant NGOs will be invited to share their practices at the discussion forum. Finally, a forum will be held where the NGO representatives and active citizens will be able to discuss the best practices. The project will benefit the NGO sector in Stara Zagora, the active citizens and the local community in general.

Summary of project results

The project addressed the need to bridge the gap between the NGOs in the city of Stara Zagora and the citizens. It aimed at bridging the gap between the citizens’ expectations and the NGOs’ goals by actively involving the public in the NGO activities. The detailed survey of NGOs carried under the project Selfie 2015 turned out to be the first survey carried out at one venue only in the last years. The implemented project helped not only the local community but also all NGOs including the nationally represented ones. Selfie 2015 helped define the place of NGOs in public life in general. The project helped evaluate the results achieved and, retrospectively, the gaps that the civil society, represented by NGOs, has not managed to fill in. The main beneficiaries of Selfie 2015 became the organizations in Stara Zagora District registered under the Non-Profit Legal Entities Act. The survey did not include associations, representatives of sport clubs and school trustee boards.
