Second, 20 NGO staff members and 20 local administration officials will attend a 2-day workshop to learn about new opportunities for funding from national and EU programmes, application with joint projects and mediation. Next, a round table will be held with the stakeholders to discuss opportunities for joint action. Finally, the applicant’s team will help the stakeholders outline 4 draft project proposals. The project will benefit the stakeholders involved with local public health policies in Gotse Delchev Municipality.

Summary of project results

The civil society has hardly been actively involved in the solution of significant problems related to the development of Gotse Delchev Region and its population. Therefore it was necessary to raise public awareness about the formulation, discussion and decision-making related to these issues. The main goal of the project to promote the inclusion of the civil society in the making of local healthcare policies was achieved to a great extent because the project activities helped analyze the existing local policies, interview the citizens, analyze the findings of the survey, discuss the main healthcare issues in the region at the round table held and outline measures for joint efforts of the local authorities and the representatives of CSOs. In addition, the capacity for such cooperation was boosted through the training provided to 40 representatives of the target groups. A manual was issued under the project with a summary of the analytical report, the agreed priority areas of cooperation for the development of public healthcare in the region and information about appropriate programmes providing financial support. The manual was disseminated among the institutions in Gotse Delchev Municipality: the municipality, healthcare establishments, children’s care establishments, schools and the Mufti’s Office. Four concepts of project proposals and opportunities for local organizations were drafted based on the public agreement achieved at the round table about the priority areas of development of public healthcare in Gotse Delchev Municipality.
