Description

The project addresses the need for social engagement of the young people from 2 villages near Gabrovo. The project aims at providing them with the opportunity for social engagement with the problems of the local community through theatre. First, a theatre group will be set up with 20 children and adolescents from the 2 villages of Vranilovtsi and Armenite. The group members will have rehearsals twice per months guided by an art director and an illusionist employed with the project partners. A theatre play based on real-life events in the local community will be prepared. Second, the play will be finalized during a 3-day camp. Finally, the play will be performed in the 2 villages and Gabrovo followed by public discussions of the issues raised in the play. The project will benefit the children and adolescents involved and the local community in general. The 2 partners will help with the setting up and training of the theatre group.

Summary of project results

The project resulted in a socially committed magic theatre performance which involved young people in creative activities interpreting the daily situations facing local people from the villages of Vranilovtsi and Armenite in Gabrovo Municipality. The group was trained in human and civil rights and the theatre play was presented in the three localities of Vranilovtsi, Armenite and Gabrovo. The performance was well accepted by the local communities and the media. As a result the project offered more information about alternative decisions to problematic situations from daily life and involved young people with social problems by raising their knowledge about human and civil rights. The group remained united until the end of the project planning their future performances and wiling to add more topical issues in the play. The group presented alternative solutions (positive and negative) to real-life problematic situations. The group distinguished between reality and illusions and promoted positive response from the local community. The target groups included young people and people at risk of poverty, local communities and the elderly. The project partners were Postoyanstvo-2012 community School, the village of Armenite, Gabrovo Municipality, and Club Art Therapy Association. Their expertise helped implement the project and achieve its goals.
