Summary of project results

There is public need of adequate family policy in Bulgaria. Such policy should safeguard the right of Bulgarian families to better quality of life given the specific needs of various types of families. In this respect the Family Policy Institute (FPI) had to boost its capacity to support the development and implementation of such policy. The FPI team was trained under the project in the purposes and principles of a family policy. A review of the Bulgarian legislation on family policy and family policies in the EU was carried out and the findings were presented in two separate reports. Particular attention was paid to promoting the project and raising public awareness about the challenges facing family policy. The FPI had its website developed on www.isp-bg.org which was promoted in the e-media with a special banner. The project ended up with a press conference. An official letter was drafted with proposals and recommendations for the competent institutions and related organizations to improve family policy in Bulgaria. The project greatly supported the development of the FPI capacity, as the trained team can carry out its expert duties much more efficiently. In addition, attention was focused on the challenges facing family policy in Bulgaria. The website acts as an information channel for the public about family policy issues.
