Description
The project addresses the need for local community centers in Ruse Municipality to win back the trust of the local community and involve young people in its activities. The project aims at involving young people by training community center staff and organizing initiatives. First, 15 members of community centres in Ruse Municipality will attend a 3-day training to boost their skills to attract and work with young people. Second, 15 young people from the village of Nikolovo will be trained in the benefits and principles of active citizenship. Third, a Youth club with the local community centre in Nikolovo will be set up and the building will be renovated. Finally, meetings will be held between the Youth Club members from Nikolovo village and young people from other small villages nearby. The project will benefit the young people involved, the staff of local community centres and the local authorities. The partner will contribute with its experience, knowledge and good practices.
Summary of project results
The project aimed at promoting and improving civic participation in the causes of NGOs. The youth club with Probuda 1901 Community Centre was revived under the project which enabled the involvement of more and more young and active people in the activities of the community centre. The community centre set an example in the municipality of good cooperation with the NGO sector and opening to young people. At the same time the community centre reached out to the other similar centres in the municipality training their staff to work with young people. 15 community centre staff from 9 centres in the region were trained which led to the setting up of a community centre network of its kind. The project helped ensure the sustainable development of small towns and villages in Rousse Municipality, the village of Nikolovo, in particular. The revived youth club will continue to work after the project ends. The club helps active and motivated young people to achieve their ideas as well as get other like-minded people involved in their activities.
