The project addresses the need to raise the awareness and capacity of local communities in Stara Zagora and Maglizh Municipalities to initiate legislative amendments to ordinances at local level. The project aims at raising the capacity through the legislative theatre approach. First, an information campaign will be held to inform the public and attract participants. Second, the approach will be presented to about 150 people during 5 information meetings. Two teams of 10 volunteers will be set up in the 2 municipalities. Third, the teams will be trained to use the legislative theatre approach, write scenarios and perform plays. Finally, 4 discussion forums will be held with the stakeholders to discuss legislative amendments. The project will benefit the volunteers involved, the young people, local authorities and the community in general in the 2 municipalities. Summary of project results

The project addressed the need to raise the awareness and capacity of local communities in Stara Zagora and Maglizh Municipalities to initiate legislative amendments to ordinances at local level. It was carried out in the year preceding the latest local elections and it played a key role to promote youth activity in the small settlements of Maglizh Municipality, in particular. Despite the elections the local authorities showed interest in the project and the achieved results. Recommendations were made to the local authorities and they, in turn, focused their attention on the priorities for young people. Although some of the issues that have been identified are not new, the association promoted the use of innovative methods to search for consensus and make efficient use of the local resources. The local institutions (responsible for formal and informal education, in particular) acquired a valuable innovative methodology to promote youth participation that they can use, multiply and adapt for their needs. An interactive Forum Theatre training module was developed under the project to be used freely by each organization and institution. A documentary was filmed which showed the benefits of using an interactive methodology. For more information about the project, please, visit the organization’s website http://www.cei-sz.eu/
