Description

The implementation of the project will result in the replacement of the oil fuel base by solid fuel - pellets, which are a renewable source of energy. The production of renewable energy on an annual basis as a result of the implementation of the project will equal approximately 150MWh, reduced CO2 emissions of nearly 50 tons. Additional results related to the ecology is the manner of production of pellets. In the production of pellets extremely low levels of carbon dioxide are emitted, unlike other fuels that are derived from the earth and which are released into the atmosphere as greenhouse gases contributing to global warming. The project also has a social purpose since it envisages the improvement of the conditions in one of the high schools in the municipality of Stambolovo, namely the High school "St. Kliment Ohridski".

Summary of project results

The main project objective is to save electricity and heating costs of the municipal administration building of Stambolovo and the Secondary School "St. Kliment Ohridski" at the village of Stambolovo, Municipality Stambolovo, Haskovo Region. This will result in significant reduction in the greenhouse gas emissions, which directly corresponds to the objectives of the current scheme "Increasing the energy efficiency and use of renewable energy in municipal and state buildings and with local heating systems". In order to achieve the planned results of the project for implementation of energy efficiency measures in an administrative building and the High School „St. Kliment Ohridski“- Minicipality of Stambolovo, two automated low-pressure pellet boilers of 300 kW heating capacity were installed, equipped with 300 kW automated pellet burners and 800-liter pellet bunkers with automated fuel-feed and control panel. The main project objective has been achieved so far, but this will actually be established after the assignment of a new energy inspection that will calculate and analyse the specific outcomes. The envisage results are: - Production of renewable energy in Wh / year - 149 262 000 - Reduction of CO2 emissions in tonnes / year - 49.88 The specific objectives also have been achieved, as a comfortable living environment has actually been supported to favor the development of children and to enhance the staff to concentrate on their day-to-day activities. The implementation of energy saving measures and the use of renewable sources are an effective way to deal with environmental pollution and in particular the air pollution as well as to save the heating costs of the municipal property buildings. During the project implementation public events such as press conferences, trainings and meetings and the conclusions drawn were presented and discussed, with an emphasis on common attitudes and common actions on environment protection, including such on the use of renewable sources and on energy saving.
