This initiative has the potential to increase public awareness on the potential impacts of deep-sea marine litter and plastic pollution and can thus contribute to effective waste management strategies on a local and international level. The project is entitled ‘An Exchange of Expertise – technologies for the study of shipwrecks as yardsticks for marine pollution’, envisaged to be implemented during July 2021 and December 2022, in the coastal waters of both Malta and Norway.
