Summary of the results

The visit in Iceland aimed to gather new ideas on citizen participation, NGO activities, and opportunities. The representatives from Pieriga Partnership visited various organizations, including senior and youth centers, groups working with people with special needs, and women''s clubs. These personal interactions provided deeper insights into the Icelandic organizations'' approaches and operations. The participants observed that despite Iceland''s more advanced economy, there were many approaches in citizen participation and NGO engagement that could be adopted. The visit also featured a charity auction of products from local Latvian producers, raising approximately 500 EUR. All proceeds from the auction were donated to the Icelandic organization "Specialistarnir," which supports people with autism spectrum disorders. The visit meaningfully strengthened the existing collaboration between Pieriga Partnership and "Landsbyggðin lifi," identifying new areas for cooperation, particularly in adult informal education and senior engagement. Following the visit, the representatives received support from Norplus for another preparatory visit to Iceland to develop specific projects in these areas, continuing the successful collaboration initiated under the ACF project.
