Summary of the results

Study visits in Romania and Iceland - the biggest challenge was related to establishing common schedules for partner institutions from both countries, such as prosecutors, police, and social services. The first visit of partners from Barnaheill to Romania included meetings with a wide range of specialists in child protection, justice, police, and NGOs. Following the study visit of Icelandic specialists to Romania, a "Visit Report to Romania" was produced. An outstanding result of this visit was that partner institutions started to collaborate within the Barnahus Center, concurrently with the drafting process of "Government Decision no. 969/2023 approving the National Strategy for the Protection and Promotion of Children''s Rights "Protected Children, Safe Romania" 2023—2027. By involving partner institutions and Save the Children Organization it was possible to include in this legislative act a proposal to develop 9 more Barnahus Centers. The second study visit organized for Romanian specialists in Iceland - the purpose of the visit was to benefit from the good practices of Icelandic institutions and study how they cooperate for the benefit of child victims of sexual abuse through the Barnahus methodology. This visit was a success, as it contributed to the consolidation of interinstitutional partnership relations, created personal connections between representatives of institutions, ultimately leading to the use of the Barnahus infrastructure in Romania.
