Project:

The objective of this project is to increase the capacity of rural women entrepreneurs and businesses for Climate Smart business in Croatia through GWEEN Rural Women Empowerment Program

GTF- Initiative for Sustainable Growth expects to gain from the GWEEN project a deeper understanding of greening business from Norwegian partner IDN’s expertise and the possibility to better inform and empower women entrepreneurs in Croatia.

The GWEEN project results will be used to increase capacity for business skills development for at least 100 Croatian women owned /operated enterprises in Croatian rural areas through a targeted training and mentoring program for greening business, including agro business based on joint Norwegian and Croatian expertise and cooperation.

GWEEN project results will contribute to the enhanced collaboration between Croatian entities and entities from Norway by deepening existing cooperation - establishing new links B2B during the study visit and by transferring knowledge and expertise on greening business from Norway to Croatia.

The project involves the following activities:

1. GWEEN Training Program Croatia - development of training syllabus and materials; initial outreach meetings (10), Trainings for women entrepreneurs (15 trainings for approx. 100 business women)

2. GWEEN Mentoring Program Croatia-Norway - mentoring program for 15 rural agribusiness women and study visit to Norway for 4 women business owners.

Summary of project results

The project aimed to address the lack of capacity and knowledge among rural women entrepreneurs in Croatia regarding climate-smart business practices. It focused on empowering these women by providing training and mentoring on greening businesses, particularly in agribusiness. The project also sought to foster collaboration and knowledge transfer between Croatian and Norwegian entities.

The project delivered 15 training workshops across Croatian counties, reaching over 100 rural women entrepreneurs and providing them with knowledge on climate-smart business practices, supported by a "Handbook for Greening Businesses" developed by Norwegian partners. Additionally, a mentoring program was offered to selected participants, with 15 women receiving further support, including a study visit to Norway for four business owners. The project facilitated collaboration between Croatian and Norwegian entities, deepening ties and transferring expertise on sustainable business.

The project successfully empowered over 100 rural women entrepreneurs in Croatia by enhancing their capacity for climate-smart business practices, particularly in agribusiness. It provided hands-on training and mentoring, with 15 women receiving personalized support, and fostered international collaboration through a study visit to Norway. The beneficiaries were primarily women-owned or operated businesses in rural areas, who gained valuable knowledge and opportunities for sustainable economic growth.
