The MELVIN project supports the development and consolidation of preventive and curative medical services in Romania intended for vulnerable groups, including Roma, by responding to the main "public health challenges at the European level" in the field of liver and cardiovascular diseases, as well as the metabolic syndrome: hepatopathies chronic diseases (viral B, C, alcoholic, dysmetabolic), their complications, the main cardiovascular diseases, arterial hypertension, the risk factors involved in their pathogenesis, the onset and progression of the metabolic syndrome as a predisposing condition in the evolution of the disease. The project supports increasing the capacity of NGOs active in the field of health (LIREC) in responding to the health needs encountered in the population (especially at the level of vulnerable groups) through sustainable investments and the establishment of collaborations with public institutions in Romania (UMF Cluj, DGASPC Cluj) and from the donor states (Landspitali Iceland).
