Summary of project results

Astra LT is a company that manufactures metal tanks and pressure vessels. Since the company’s operations are limited due to strict requirements, tracing and documenting materials consumed in production can be a burden – these challenges led to the digitization of the company’s processes. In project the company acquired a set of equipment that helped to digitize the production process, eliminating part of the manual labor, reducing the amount of defects, and also helped to expand the company''s capabilities and competitive advantage in foreign markets.

Astra LT wanted to apply advanced ultrasound examinations in manufacturing of metal tanks and pressure vessels – a method that was used in nuclear energy and the turbine generator industry, warfare and medicine , in the installation and operation of pipelines, oil pipelines. Astra LT has taken the initiative to use this ultrasound method first in Lithuania for thin-walled, 4-6 mm metal sheets in everyday production.

Company used to work with an X-ray, for that they needed special separate rooms and guards, as it is harmful. This new, unused in this are ultrasound method is safe for everyone. With new equipment, the company will also achieve 40% higher labor productivity. The benefits of innovation will be felt by their customers, mainly in the food and chemical industries - the customer will get more tested product, faster and a little cheaper.
