Description
Planting and implementation of selected elements of insulating greenery, proposed in the action plan and identified by the monitoring of clean air within the existing project "TENT AIR." Through the planting and implementation of more than 300 wood species, air pollution will be reduced, noise propagation in the area will be reduced with the synergistic effect of regulating the local climate by creating shaded areas, restoring ecological stability and biodiversity of the area.
Summary of project results
The issue of air quality has long been a priority topic for Zdiby, which it has approached very responsibly and actively. This is demonstrated by the municipality''s involvement in four Norway Grants-funded projects, which were successfully completed this April. The project, supported by the Stavanger Call, focused on the implementation of selected green measures that have a demonstrable positive impact on air quality in Zdiby. The project was directly linked to the project " Influence of traffic on air pollution within the TEN-T route Ústí nad Labem - Mělník - Zdiby" - TENT AIR for short , No. 3202100004, implemented under the Call-2A "Tromso", aimed at carrying out air quality monitoring within the route of the Trans-European Transport Network Eastern and Eastern Mediterranean Corridor and developing action plans for the participating cities. In parallel, Zdiby was involved in the Stavanger call project No. 3214200014 and the Svalbard call, No. 3212400018, "Corridor D8, local air quality measurement with emphasis on household heating issues, Central Bohemia Region", which focused on the acquisition, operation and evaluation of sensor measurement technology to verify its suitability for measuring air quality in municipalities, especially with regard to local heating. The fourth project was a grant from the EEA Grants 2014-2021, " Open government Zdiby and Koridor D8".
Prior to the actual submission of the application, the selection of the sites was carried out with the participation of the city representatives, air protection specialists and the preparers of the expert documents of the ZI. The selected system of protective green space for air quality and quality of life improvements was carefully composed of residential vegetative line planting elements, residential vegetative areas, landscape vegetative line planting elements, and landscape vegetative areas.
The planned planting at 13 locations along the Zdib spine road was successfully implemented. The aim was to create a system of green trees and shrubs to the maximum extent possible, extending into the sections along Průběná Street and its immediate surroundings. The identified locations were based on the results of the mobile air measurement of the TENT AIR project and thus applied the scientific results to practice. During the course of the project, due to the approved amendment, we have newly included an additional 2,425 shrubs and 50 multi-stemmed trees in existing and newly planted areas along Průběná Street.
The importance of greenery to human existence is well known and described. In this project we have involved air and landscape experts. We have also used all available channels to make the local population - our target group - aware of the importance of the project and its long-term benefits, which are expected to last for many decades. At each event, we emphasized the support of the project donors, the Norwegian Funds and the Czech Environmental Fund. We are pleased with the public interest in the project, as well as the active involvement of children from local primary schools, as they will be the ones to influence the environment around us in the future.
