Description
At the moment, not a single civic initiative is underway in the Narva-Jõesuu volost (the cities of Olgina, Soldino, Narva-Jõesuu and Sinimäe). With this project, we want to increase the activity of citizens living in the volosts of Narva-Jõesuu, namely in the cities of Olgina, Soldino, Narva-Jõesuu and Sinimäe, by attracting the maximum (or minimum?) number of residents of the Narva-Jõesuu volost to the organization of the Wildstream NGO. The aim of it is to bring new people into the activities of the republic. Through various events and discussions, we can give citizens the opportunity to express their civic positions. The project is unique in that we attract project partners from different spheres and ages. And therefore, we can raise important topics of society. This project gives great impetus to attract new partners to the organization, as well as partners from the third sector and the public sector. The main conclusion of the project is that participants can independently write and implement projects, which aim to solve the problems of concerned residents of Narva-Jõesuu. The final event of the project will present the results and analysis of the implementation of these projects. This activity ensures the creation of new jobs in the region. The working languages of the project are Estonian and Russian, in order to involve all participants in all project activities, no matter their language. Another goal of the project is to allow project participants and target groups to express their activity by organizing events. The project also allows the local population to raise topics of discussion, organize debates and draw up their own projects. The target groups involved in the project are residents of the Narva-Jõesuu volost, families, people with disabilities, representatives of local government and state institutions.
Summary of project results
The primary goal of the project is to enhance civic engagement among the residents of Narva-Jõesuu municipality, specifically in the towns of Olgina, Soldino, Narva-Jõesuu, and Sinimäe, by involving at least 50 local residents. This initiative aims to introduce new individuals to community activities.
Additional objectives of the project include:
- Strengthening civic engagement by uniting residents across the municipality to foster regional development and improve overall well-being.
- Educating participants on project writing to effectively address local issues and seek necessary support.
- Providing small-town residents with a platform to voice concerns and find solutions through project proposals and direct communication with officials.
- Encouraging civic activism by enabling residents to engage in problem-solving through structured project initiatives, thus increasing opportunities for smaller communities.
- Engaging organizations from various sectors to demonstrate how different entities contribute to regional development and how community challenges can be addressed through project-based approaches.
As part of the project, participants had the opportunity to explore civic engagement and social responsibility. Through educational activities, they learned the fundamentals of active citizenship, gaining a deeper understanding of their role in society.
A key focus was on dialogue with local government representatives, strengthening the connection between the public and authorities. Participants also gained insights into opportunities offered by various foundations and learned how to communicate with them effectively.
By enhancing their project development and writing skills, developing and implementing their own initiatives, they acquired practical experience essential for future involvement in social and community projects.
As a result of this project, active citizenship among the residents of small towns in the Narva-Jõesuu municipality was significantly strengthened. The initiative brought together individuals of various ages and backgrounds, enabling them to collaboratively develop and implement projects addressing local issues.
One of the most important achievements was establishing cooperation between residents and the Narva-Jõesuu city authorities, fostering long-term civic engagement and contributing to the development of a sustainable civil society. Participants gained a deep understanding of civic issues, confidently express their views, and actively engage with decision-making bodies.
The project also facilitated the formation of a strong network of partners, promoting collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the expansion of community services. By sharing their experiences, participants continue to attract new supporters and further engage in civic initiatives. Equipped with project-writing and implementation skills, they now take an active role in addressing social challenges and improving their municipality’s well-being.
Moreover, many participants are now seeking continued support to implement new ideas, ensuring the long-term impact of the project on their city and region.
