Description

Planting and implementation of selected elements of insulating greenery, proposed in the action plan and identified by the monitoring of clean air within the existing project "TENT AIR." Through the planting and implementation of more than 700 wood species, air pollution will be reduced, noise propagation in the area will be reduced with the synergistic effect of regulating the local climate by creating shaded areas, ecological stability and biodiversity of the area.

Summary of project results

The issue of air quality has long been a priority topic for the town of Mělník and the town has taken a very responsible approach to it. This is demonstrated by the city''s involvement in three projects financed by Norway grants, which were successfully completed this April. The project, supported by the Stavanger Call, focused on the implementation of selected green measures in Mělník that have a demonstrable positive impact on air quality. The project was directly linked to the project " Influence of traffic on air pollution within the TEN-T route Ústí nad Labem - Mělník - Zdiby", TENT AIR for short, No. 3202100004, implemented under the Call-2A "Tromso", aimed at carrying out air quality monitoring within the Trans-European Transport Network Eastern and Eastern Mediterranean Corridor route and developing action plans for the participating cities. In parallel, the City of Mělník applied for and received a grant from the Svalbard Call for Proposals for the project No. 3212400017, „CLEAN AIR, Sensors for Mělník", which aimed at the acquisition, operation and evaluation of sensor measurement technology in order to verify its suitability for measuring air quality in municipalities, especially with regard to local heating.

Prior to the actual submission of the application, the selection of the sites was carried out with the participation of the city representatives, air protection specialists and the preparers of the expert documents of the ZI. The selected system of protective green space for air quality and quality of life improvements was carefully composed of residential vegetative line planting elements, residential vegetative areas, landscape vegetative line planting elements, and landscape vegetative areas.

We implemented the planned planting at 13 sites. Specifically, accompanying linear greenery in 8 streets, installation of linear greenery in boxes in three streets, planting of green areas in two locations and strengthening of the protective forest cover in the Chloumek location. The identified sites were based on the results of the mobile air measurement of the TENT AIR project and thus applied the scientific results into practice.

In the course of the project, thanks to the approved change, we included 40 more trees in Na Průhoně Street and 208 more trees to strengthen the protective belts of the Mělník forests.

The main output is the planting of more than 700 trees, which were planned, but also increased by 248 trees in the course of the project on 3 downstream sites. The scale of the greenery planted in this project is significantly the largest in the last 10 years in the context of the city''s projects.
