Summary of the results
The Heritage and Climate Symposium was held on 11-12 October in Valtice in the Czech Republic and Piestany in Slovakia. Through the Symposium, more than 30 experts from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Norway and Austria got together to network and share knowledge about current developments in the field of energy efficiency and cultural heritage. The workshops identified some similarities and differences between the countries, and identified some key topics where there is a need for increased knowledge and fresh approaches.
The symposium was co-organised by the National Heritage Institute, Riksantikvaren (NO), and the National Trust of Slovakia. The participation of the Czech Program Operator of the EEA grants (The Ministry of Finance), as well as the Slovak Program Operator (Ministry of Investment, Regional Development and Informatics) was beneficial as a part of the preparatory work of a potential new culture program under the new mechanism of the EEA and Norway Grants.
A publication of the symposium summarizing the presentations and discussions was issued. It will be used in daily work with climate change and cultural heritage. It could also contribute to other international initiatives through the outlined strategies and guidelines. The guidelines were translated and made available online through the initiative.
