Description

Tema is specialized producer of AC synchronous permanent magnet electrical motors and variable speed generators for electric and hybrid marine implementations. Over the past 10 years TEMA has developed nearly 50 different motors and successfully implemented them in more than 250 complex projects all over the world, that support renewable energy, environmental care and sustainability.

Number of its results were published in scientific papers, and Tema was awarded series of Innovation awards from industry innovation fairs (Nurmberg, Brussel, Geneva…).

Unlike competitors, TEMA offers hybrid and electric solutions in the continuous power range. Its solutions are intended exclusively for marine applications, are robust heavy-duty machines and technologically advanced. TEMA provides unique solutions, specially designed for each customer''s needs.

Project:

This project addresses the need to reduce emissions by replacing fossil fuels with ethanol in propulsion systems of the maritime transport industry. The Ethanol based CHP (propulsion system) that will be developed for marine industry will then be used as a basis for developing energy efficient Heat Recovery System, a solution that extracts excess heat from the Ethanol CHP, as an alternative way of heating the buildings.

The project is focused on the growing demand for sustainable solutions within both industries.

The project has both, green and blue components, but for the purpose of this Call has been classified within Blue Growth focus area.

For the purposes of this project, TEMA is partnering with Gether AS from Norway. Partnership combines TEMA''s expertise in permanent magnet electric motors and variable speed generators in the maritime industry and Gether''s expertise in sustainable and efficient energy solutions.

Both partners will commercialize their own products, and will jointly file for a single IPR (ethanol based heat recovery system). Project will bring increased revenues/profit to both companies.

Summary of project results

The project aimed to tackle the problem of pollution by reducing the harmful gases released when burning regular fuels. It also focused on making the system more efficient, as many energy systems waste a lot of energy in the form of heat. Finally, it worked on capturing and reusing that wasted energy to make the system more eco-friendly and efficient

The project created a system that produces both electricity and heat, using a cleaner fuel to reduce pollution and waste. It involved designing, building, and testing different parts, including a special generator that makes the system more efficient by reducing energy loss.

The project successfully created a cleaner and more efficient system that generates heat from unutilized electricity, while reducing harmful emissions. It helps companies and industries that need reliable and eco-friendly energy solutions by offering a system that wastes less energy and is easier to install and move around. The system also benefits the environment by cutting down on pollution and energy waste.

Summary of bilateral results

The project brought together partners from Croatia and Norway to develop a cleaner energy system that benefits both countries. Tema d.o.o. from Croatia focused on designing and building the CHP system, while Gether AS from Norway upgraded it to an Energy Recovery System to be used for heating of buildings. This collaboration helped create an eco-friendly solution that can be used in various industries, supporting cleaner energy goals in both countries.
