Summary of the results

The project was focused on communicating an importance of freedom of thoughts and expression as a basic condition for the consolidation of democracy without distinction of religion, ethnic difference, gender or sexual orientation.

CSO Prerag realized working trips, meetings of partners, municipalities and cultural institutions, 8 joint exhibitions, visits to cultural events in Prešov, Spišská Nová Ves, Medzilaborce, exhibitions connected with public debates, visits to cultural institutions in Hafnarfjordur and Reykjavik.

The exhibitions responded to totalitarian forms of government, the absence of legal and ethical norms, threats to media freedom and civil liberties. It drew attention to the risk of abuse of power, and encouraged the mobilisation of civic courage in upholding the principles of freedom of thought and expression. Participating authors represented prominent cartoon personalities from around the world. The project also included a joint exhibition Terra Incognita by E. Einarsdóttir, H.Dagson, F. Jablonovský and B. Pernecký. An additional objective was the preparation of a follow up project focusing on cooperation and involvement of cultural actors.

Approximately 7300 people participated in the individual project activities.
