Description
In the project, we focus on improving the process of transforming civil partnerships into marriages of same-sex couples. The project addresses the lack of instructions from the Ministry to the Administrative Units in Slovenia and thus the lack of clarity in the management of procedures for the transformation of partnerships into marriages. In the framework of the project several meetings with the decsion-makers will be organized.
Summary of project results
The change of legislation on same sex marriage foreseen the termination of Civil partnerships on the 31/7/2023 if the couples didn''t confirm that they would like to change this status into marriage.
The project organized a campaign for administrative officers in the administrative units on how to make sure the change of civil partnership to marriage goes as smoothly as possible and that all couples have an option to do it. They organized meeting with the Ministry of social affairs and Internal affairs. They made an agreement to sent out the information to all administrative units on how to complete the process and organize an information campaign among their users.
The result was that only 10 civil partnerships had been terminated due to the inactivity of the partners.
