Status:
Completed
Final project cost:
€25,062

Description

The project aims to develop a tool - an application that would be able to fully ensure the use of the 3D BIM IFC model for the needs of the construction site, mainly for the ability to develop graphical information.

The goal of the project is achievable, feasible, and verifiable, the result will be a software prototype that will confirm the achievement of the goal.

As a result of the project implementation, a tool will be created that will have a unique functionality - the ability to create a construction drawing from IFC models, making maximum use of the information in the IFC model. In addition to this unique functionality, the tool will have significantly improved functionality that is not unique to this tool but is not at a level that no other competitor can use on the construction site, such as measuring tools, coordinate placement tools, element selection and filtering tools, model cleaning tools.

Expected results:

      • A fully functional tool with the functionality described under the main project activities
      • Informing the target audience and the general public about the progress of the project and the results of the project

Summary of project results

The project addresses the challenges of using 3D IFC models, which may contain a wide spectrum of information about the building. These models have been used in the construction industry, and using available tools to prepare graphical information using existing models is not easy. The only current alternative is using expensive and complex design programs.

A tool that opens up a completely new opportunity for all participants in the construction industry to create graphic information from IFC models was developed within the project.

As a result of the project, a computer program for 3D graphic processing was developed that can be used by professionals in the construction industry as well as designers which eliminates using expensive, complex and costly design programs.
