Description

Cadevent has so far operated in the IT market, but intend to diversify our operations and grow the company by providing technical assistance services on the water, in cooperation with a sister company operating in the area, Maritime Assistance Services Poland. The aim of the project is to implement a comprehensive service comprising: small boat and yacht maintenance, waste collection, fuel supply to vessels, neutralizing chemical and biological hazards, and securing leaks from vessels.

Under the project, we will design and commission a boat with an electric motor, and with equipment for the provision of technical assistance on the water: a rescue kit, a working platform and a crane, and specialized tools for the repair of emergency boat malfunctions. A scientific unit will  help us develop procedures for the safe provision of refuelling and collection of waste from ships, yachts, ports, marinas, houseboats and boats. Priority in waste collection will be given to ensuring high tightness of waste containers, the loading speed, minimizing the risk of equipment failure on the vessel, and safety of employees operating the waste collection process.

The Norwegian project partner, the scientific institute SINTEF AS, will take important part in the boat design work. Our resulting services are planned to be provided in Norway, so the design has to take into account the regulations which aim to protect the Norwegian natural environment. Thanks to the project we will be able to guarantee to the recipients of the new services - i.e. owners of vessels and other entrepreneurs operating in the water area - high mobility, complexity and speed of implementation, and a high standard of the service.

Summary of project results

The project was to involve the production and purchase of innovative technology for wastewater collection to enable specialist servicing of ships and yachts in water areas and ports and marinas in Poland. The main problem to be solved in our project was to provide support in ecological restricted areas with high noise and polution restrictions. The main challenge was to create a full operating system able to act in calm and high seas areas, also with low depth of water. It was crutial to provide fully automated resolution to above problems with the highest precision and durability of hull and electronical equipment that have been used in this project.

The project goal was achieved, in partnership with a Norwegian entity, an innovative specialist boat was designed and created. Thanks to the product created as a result of the project, we responded to the deficit of vessels serving ships or yachts on small waters, e.g. lakes, due to the lack of such small-sized transport boats. Our solution solved the problem of salmon farms in Norway – the need was to create a durable aluminium hull vessel to operate in low depth water with eco engines when operate near the farms, but with good speed conditions and power to transport waste on bigger routes.

As part of the project implementation, an innovative technology for wastewater collection was purchased and applied. The purchased technology is distinguished by its innovativeness on a European and company scale. The innovativeness concerns primarily the size of the device (which enables installation on a small boat), while at the same time fulfilling all the necessary functionalities necessary to implement the wastewater collection process. The main recipients are the owners of ships and yachts sailing on individual waters in Poland. As part of the project implementation, an innovative service for servicing yachts, boats, ports, marines and houseboats was introduced to the market. The indicated service consists of: minor service of boats and yachts, collection of waste (faeces), fuel supply services for vessels, neutralization of chemical hazards, neutralization of biological hazards, securing leaks from vessels. The main recipients are the owners of ships and yachts sailing on individual waters in Poland also the companies which operate salmon farms in Norway. Our project is a milestone in hybrid waste management dedicated for low depth waters. It provides many abilities to perform in high eco requirement areas.

Summary of bilateral results

Cooperation with the Norwegian project partner took place actively at each stage of the selecting the criteria and parameters of the entire set that makes up our innovative boat, we visited our partner in Norway twice. One of the visits took place at the local shipyard, where they shared their experience in implementing similar projects with us, for which we are extremely grateful because it opened our eyes to many additional aspects. At the same time, thanks to joint work, it was possible to develop a concept for the best possible use of the unit under construction for the needs of, among others, local salmon farms. In Norway, combustion boats are not allowed, due to, for example, the fact that they collect waste from tanks in live fish farms. During talks and consultations, we developed a list of necessary competencies that the crew of our innovative unit must demonstrate. The partner drew our attention to possible difficulties in terms of operating the boat on shallow water bodies andthose covered by the silence zone. During the construction of the unit, we remained in constant telephone contact with the expert assigned to us by our Partner. After the recruitment is completed and the crew is assembled, joint tests of the unit''s capabilities and the refinement of procedures necessary on the Norwegian market are planned.
