Summary of the results

The initiative successfully fostered community engagement, built stakeholder capacities, promoted sustainable development practices in the region and enhanced bilateral cooperation. The project team created a database of stakeholders involved in or capable of adopting circular bio-economy principles and established a working group with representatives from public institutions, academia, and private entities focused on advancing the circular bio-economy in Lika-Senj County, Croatia. They conducted three capacity-building training sessions for local stakeholders, covering both theoretical and practical aspects of the bio-based circular economy, and two study visits. Public inclusion and support were fostered through the organization of three camps for more than 30 women and more than 60 teenagers to educate and empower them with knowledge and skills related to sustainability and circular economy principles. Activities within the implementation contributed to the strengthening of bilateral relations through an intensive work plan with a Norwegian partner whose ability to gather relevant actors and experiences in Norway and share Norwegian expertise and knowledge with Croatian companies was of vital importance. Beside this initiative partners successfully implemented another project financed by EEA/Norway Grants and developed a third proposal within the EEA/Norway Grants.
