Summary of the results
During the implementation of the initiative, six bilateral events focused on examples of good practice were carried out, involving local public and business stakeholders, as well as academic organizations including professors and students. The activities allowed the stakeholders to get acquainted with the good practices in the sector of green transition at municipal level in both countries, as well as teaching methods in different universities. The focus of cooperation was on the integration of renewable sources, increasing energy efficiency and developing resilient infrastructure, and common goals include reducing the carbon footprint, encouraging innovation and ensuring energy security for the island''s population. Through joint research, technology exchanges and policy alignment, both the applicant and the partner aim to create models for island sustainability that can be replicated more widely. In total 65 participants from Croatia, and 45 participants from Norway took part in bilateral events. Joint cooperation resulted in the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Østfold University College with the University of Rijeka Faculty of Engineering and the University of Zagreb Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture. The memorandums of understanding represent the first formal step for continuing and improving cooperation in the academic sector, which could develop innovative solutions for the real needs of island municipalities and companies.
